[MMDL] Week 3 Standings & Roster Change Policy

The following is meant to clarify MMDL's policies on adding or replacing players on your team roster.

It is ESSENTIAL for all MMDL Team Captains to understand and comply with the league roster change policies.  These policies were designed to ensure equitable and fair competition for all divisions. MMDL understands that the unpredictability of life often results in players dropping out mid-season, or other reasons for additions or replacements, but we must also be protective of the integrity of league competition while preventing abuse of these rules and have therefore created these policies to offer a fair and standard process for all.

DON'T LOSE POINTS - Every season, many captains lose valuable match points because they do not follow the proper procedure when making a roster change.  Every point counts in a team's quest for the playoffs, so if you must make a change to your team roster, it is in your best interest to adhere to the following:

Use of an unregistered/unapproved player will result in match penalty points.

  • All roster changes must be approved by your area director before the new player can play in a match.  Make sure that you have received an email or verbal permission from your AD before using a new player.

  • Teams are allowed to make up to three (3) roster changes before week 8 of the regular season. Absolutely no roster changes will be allowed after this deadline.  You must submit your roster change request to your Area Director AT LEAST 24 HOURS PRIOR to your scheduled Week 8 match.

  • Your official roster can be checked at any time on the MMDL Stats Website.  If a player's name does not appear on this site as a member of your team, then they are not approved to play.

[MMDL] The Kings and Queens of the Cricket Kingdom

Congratulations to this year's Cricket Singles Champions!

Winners and runner ups are listed below with links to the full competition bracket for each event.  Champion's pictures and a video from our Live Stream are now posted on the league website - click here

WHY DIDN'T YOU COME?
We're looking for our member's input on how to improve our annual league 501 and Cricket championships.  If you chose not to attend this year, we'd love to hear your honest reasons for why and any suggestions for how to turn that around.  If you have any ideas or suggestions, please reply to this email or post them on our Facebook page.  A few ideas we are currently considering are:

  • Making it 3 instead of 4 team members to get one entry free
  • Consolation brackets so you're not one and done
  • Keep them in a central location near Boston rather than rotate the venue through the league's 4 areas
Would these ideas get you to attend or do you have a creative suggestion?  Let us know!

[MMDL] Week 1 Standings

Results for Week 1 of the Spring 2014 season are available on the MMDL Statistics Website.  Follow the link below to review the scores and notables for your area.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Please mail your match reports immediately following the match. This will greatly help faster processing of weekly scores.

To learn about submitting match reports via email - click here.

FILLING OUT MATCH REPORTS - Captains are urged to remember the following:

  • DO NOT use old return envelopes from previous seasons - USE ONLY the envelopes provided to you in this season's captain's kit.
  • Mail the TOP WHITE COPY in the envelope provided.  Pink and yellow copies are for both captain's records. You are advised to store these sheets until the season is over in case of disputes or to examine for point deductions.
  • Write legibly (!!!) - if the name of the player, team, points and other information can not be easily read, this increases the chance for errors and delays the publishing of the standings
  • Use First and Last names - so proper credit can be given to the correct player for wins, losses and notables.
  • Start and End Times should be recorded in the space provided
  • Assign one of your players to review the report for accuracy at the end of the match to prevent point deductions.
  • DO NOT tear, doodle on or otherwise deface the report - have respect for the person who must process hundreds of them in a short time window

Complying with the above is extremely important for our ability to process several hundred weekly match reports in a timely and accurate manner.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

[MMDL] Get Ready for Super Tuesday...

The Spring 2014 season of the World's Largest Dart League officially begins this week.  Every team starts with a clean slate and a chance to improve over last season.  Last Fall the North Shore took 50% of the league's state titles with Central right behind.  Other areas will need to step it up and get back in the mix.

Good luck to all teams.  Represent your sponsors well, respect your opponent and help spread the goodwill of the great game of darts. Make sure all players have read and are familiar with the league rules. Please advise any new players to Like our Facebook Page, Follow us on Twitter, and/or subscribe to this email list by visiting our website.

Match schedules can be downloaded from the respective links below:

NOTE: Captains please re-check your divisions, there have been many changes to schedules since the last captain's meeting, many spots that were previously BYEs may have been filled.
Please note these schedules are subject to minor changes for the first couple weeks after original posting, so please check your division against the version currently posted online to make sure you have the most recent scheduling info. 

Please direct any questions about scheduling to your respective Area Director listed on your captain's kit envelope.

Here are some other helpful reminders for team captains to ensure you start the season off right:
  • League Rules - to avoid disputes during matches, make sure that all the players on your team are knowledgeable of the current rules.  The most up to date version of MMDL rules is posted on our website, which supersedes all printed versions.
  • Schedules - Make copies of the schedule provided in your captain's kit and distribute to each team member.
  • Stat Site - Weekly standings and player statistics are available on the MMDL stat site.  See the instructions on the main page of the stat site for setting up an account and accessing your stats.  Please note that the current season is not yet loaded into the site, but should be available prior to, or just after, the new season begins.
  • Captain's Kit Materials - Make sure you review and are familiar with all the contents of the captain's kit you should have picked up at your recent captain's meeting.  Additional copies of documents such as blank match reports, match report instructions, order of play and scorekeeping, match start time guidelines and scorekeeper's ten commandments can be downloaded from the league website - click here.

[MMDL] Free ADO Qualifier for U.S. Masters - 3/16 at Beverly Elks

If you love to play darts, isn't it about time you came to one of these?  Come help MMDL dominate the Men's and Women's national rankings and help send our ADO players to England...

MMDL's FREE ADO event series continues. PLEASE help us spread the word among your team and other MMDL players you meet.  These qualifiers are a great way to play A LOT of quality, tournament style darts at no cost to you.  We especially encourage players to come out and give it a go and improve their game for league nights while supporting the growth of women's darts in the USA.

Winners of this qualifier will earn entry ($110 value) to the ADO U.S. Masters Regional competition scheduled for March 23rd at the Barn in Amesbury, MA. Winners from the Regional will represent MMDL and Area 5-1 at the ADO National U.S. Masters competition in Charlotte, NC in April.  U.S. Masters winners will be sent to compete at the World Masters in England next October.

DIRECTIONS

ELIGIBILITY:
In order to participate in this MMDL event you must have played at least 3 matches in the prior season or 1 match in the current season.

Doors open at 10:30am and event to start at 11:30pm. Registration closes 15 minutes prior to start.

NOTE:  Players that go deep in the tournament will likely play late into the day -- make sure you can commit to the entire day of darts, leaving before completing your matches may suspend you from future qualifiers.

Up to 3 men and 3 women will win a free registration ($110 value) to represent the MMDL at the upcoming ADO Regional.  Winners from that will advance to the national competition. As always, there is no entry fee for this qualifier and all MMDL members* in good standing are invited to attend.
