[MMDL] Important update to match report instructions

There have been some recent misunderstandings about the proper match report procedures for shorthanded teams and for players listed that do not actually play in the match. Below please find clarification on how to avoid penalty points for this issue. If you have any questions, please contact your area director.

A new copy of the official match report instructions are attached to this email and also available on the league website. Please print this sheet out and keep it in your captain's kit envelope for future reference.

If you are Shorthanded or Missing Players: In instances where you are short handed, do not leave player names blank, instead write "NP" or "No Player" in the player name field. If a player's name is filled in but the player did not actually play in that game, strike a line through that player's name. (See item 15 on the new instructions sheet and the illustrated example on the reverse side)

[MMDL] Darts in the News!

Every once in a while, the sport we love to play gets some mainstream attention, and this past weekend featured no fewer than three published articles in the local press featuring the MMDL. Here are links to this past weekend's press and some other recent publicity.

Word has it that the MMDL will be featured in an article focused on darts to appear in this Sunday's "Globe West" section of the Boston Globe. We'll provide a link when the article appears online, but keep your eyes out for this.

Annual Filing - As part of the league "open book" policy, MMDL's annual IRS 990 tax filings as a non-profit corporation are publicly available for review on this page going back to 2006.

Musical Chairs World Championship?

If you are looking for a competitive change of pace to competing on the dartboard, we just received email from the organizers of the upcoming Musical Chairs World Championship being held at the Amesbury Sports Park on June 2, 2012. They are seeking to break the world record of 8,238 participants and looking for individuals and teams of 12 to compete for the $10,000 first prize with bonuses for any that win as a team. ADO Program - Many MMDL members are unaware that we are a charter member of the American Darts Organization (ADO) which governs the US player ranking and tournament system for darts. MMDL players are provided many opportunities throughout the year to represent our league at ADO competitions, including the upcoming FREE qualifier on April 28th. [MMDL] Free ADO Qualifier - 4/28 at the Malden Moose

MMDL's FREE ADO event series continues. PLEASE help us spread the word among your team and other players you meet. These qualifiers are a great way to play A LOT of quality, tournament style darts at no cost to you.

501 SI/DO, ADO Rules - Round Robin

Location:

Malden Moose Lodge
562 Broadway Street
Malden, MA 01248

Doors open at 11:00am and event to start at 12:00pm

Please print this flyer out and distribute to anyone you think may wish to participate.

Up to 3 men and 3 women will win a free registration ($110 value) to represent the MMDL at the upcoming ADO Regional East/West Tournament on May 12th in Amesbury, MA. Winners on May 12 will advance to the national competitions. As always, there is no entry fee for this qualifier and all MMDL members* in good standing are invited to attend.

Participants will play 501 in a round-robin format. This format could take up the entire day and you will throw a lot of games, so please make sure you can make the full-day commitment to participate. For anyone who loves to play darts, this is a great opportunity with no cost to you. We especially encourage all female players to come out and give it a go and improve their game for Tuesday nights while supporting the growth of women's darts in the USA.

* In order to qualify for an MMDL event you must have played at least 3 matches in the prior season or 1 match in the current season.
