[MMDL] What's YOUR favorite memory of the Witch? Also: Longer 501 Format! And even more news...

There's only 56 days left to the return of the Witch City Open!  Below please find several important updates on the tournament.

Hotel Reservation Deadline - September 12th!

Don't get shut out - call this weekend and reserve your room - we can't guarantee availability after the cutoff date!  Make sure to make your reservation at the Nashua Courtyard Marriott before the cutoff date to take advantage of the "Darter's Room Rate" ($85 for a single/double) and make sure you tell them you'll be there for the Witch City Open.  For room reservations, please call 603-880-9100.  You can cancel your reservation up to 24 hours prior to the event with absolutely no fee or penalty, so there's little risk - do it now and get that one big thing out of the way and off your plate.

WANTED:  Anecdotes and Pictures

We've started collecting old stories and images from the loooooong history of this event that many people have called the most popular dart tournament in North America.  But we need more!   We plan to publish a lot of what we collect, so please take a look inside your attic, basement and brains and let us know what you find.  Any picture of people or old tourney shirts, anything at all is welcome.  And if you can jot down any thoughts about playing in the event, or funny stories from the sidelines, feel free to send us an email or even post them on the WCO Facebook page (there are several stories and pictures up there already).  We'd really appreciate it!

Format Change!

Following the trend in today's dart tournaments, we are lengthening the format for all 501 singles events:  Men's 501 Singles will be best of three; quarterfinals will be best of 5; semifinals will be best of 7; and finals will be best of 9.  Women's 501 Singles will be best of three; semifinals will be best of 5; and finals will be best of 7.

Expanded Youth Events!

We are expanding the youth events with additional competitions and activities for the future aces of darts.  Stay tuned to our website for additional announcements about the changes, which will include events on Sunday, October 21.

Captain's meetings are next week!  The second captain's meetings for the Fall 2012 season begin next Monday, 8/27.  For the exact date and locations of each area's meeting, click here.  Please be on time for the meeting to pick up your captain's kits, schedules and any awards from the previous season.
