Results for Week 1 of the Spring 2012 season are available on the MMDL Statistics Website. Follow the link below to review the scores and notables for your area.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Please mail your match reports immediately following the match. This will greatly help faster processing of weekly scores.

FILLING OUT MATCH REPORTS - Captains are urged to remember the following:

DO NOT use old return envelopes from previous seasons - USE ONLY the envelopes provided to you in this season's captain's kit. The league has changed Post Office Boxes recently and old envelopes will not be delivered which will result in penalty points for your team.
Mail the TOP WHITE COPY in the envelope provided. Pink and yellow copies are for both captain's records. You are advised to store these sheets until the season is over in case of disputes or to examine for point deductions.
Write legibly (!!!) - if the name of the player, team, points and other information can not be easily read, this increases the chance for errors and delays the publishing of the standings
Use First and Last names - so proper credit can be given to the correct player for wins, losses and notables.
Start and End Times should be recorded in the space provided
Assign one of your players to review the report for accuracy at the end of the match to prevent point deductions.
DO NOT tear, doodle on or otherwise deface the report - have respect for the person who must process hundreds of them in a short time window

[MMDL] Spring 2012 Season Kicks Off after Super Bowl Weekend!

The Spring 2012 season of the Minute Man Dart League begins right after Super Bowl weekend! Celebrate the Patriots Dynasty with your own inaugural victory on Tuesday night!

Please note that these schedules are subject to minor changes for the first couple weeks after original posting, so always check the date on the website to make sure you have the most recent version.

Please direct any questions about scheduling to your respective Area Director.

Here are some other helpful reminders for team captains to ensure you start the season off right:

League Rules - to avoid disputes during matches, make sure that all the players on your team are knowledgeable of the current ruleset.
Schedules - Make copies of the schedule provided in your captain's kit and distribute to each team member.
Stat Site - Weekly standings and player statistics are available on the MMDL stat site. See the instructions on the main page of the stat site for setting up an account and accessing your stats. Please note that the current season is not yet loaded into the site, but should be available prior to, or just after, the new season begins.
Captain's Kit Materials - Make sure you review and are familiar with all the contents of the captain's kit you should have picked up at your recent captain's meeting. Additional copies of documents such as blank match reports, match report instructions, order of play and scorekeeping, match start time guidelines and scorekeeper's ten commandments can be downloaded from the league website - click here.

Big Thanks again to everyone who came out for our recent evening with John Lowe. The fun and laughs were plentiful and we hope to continue to provide opportunities for the MMDL community to celebrate their love of darts with us and meet and compete with the world's many ambassadors of the game.

Cometh The Hour, Cometh The Man!

Four hours in the company of former world champion John Lowe, on Friday evening last (December 16), was both enthralling and frustrating for the sizable crowd at the IBEW Hall in Boston.

The man himself is as charismatic as he is brilliant and his rapport with the crowd during the evening would have been the envy of the best stage performers. The big Englishman did not disappoint with a masterclass of darts, yet for all but ten minutes of the evening it was frustrating for the throng of Minute Man Dart League fans present.

Holly Frary had handed the big man his first 'defeat' of the evening, but when the Salem phenom appeared poised to record an historic victory she came undone at the vital moment, allowing John to take victory in the best-of-three series.

Holly's loss wasn't the first time the crowd felt deflated as they cheered on each and every thrower who came to pit their wits against this legend of the game.

The first captain's meetings in all areas for the Spring 2012 season are this week! SS and NS held their meetings last night, Boston is tomorrow and Central is on Thursday. Times and locations can be found on the league website - click here. Contact your area director if you have any complications with attending the meeting or submitting your team.

If you were unable to attend the NS or SS meetings last night, you are advised to contact the respective director immediately to see if you can still submit a team.

Playoff results are now posted for all areas and divisions, please click the link below to download your area's schedule to see results or updates -- check the date code printed on the schedule to make sure you have the most recent version. A few results are still pending, keep checking back at the website or contact your area director for the latest info.

[MMDL] Santa's not the only one coming to town...

We hope to see you at tomorrow's FREE exhibition with 3x World Champion John Lowe!

Below is some helpful information for anyone coming down to the event and don't forget to bring your darts.

The venue should be easy to find, there is a very large parking lot and a giant lighted marquis at the entrance that says "IBEW". The function hall is the building on the right side of the lot as you enter. Please try to arrive a bit early if possible and be sure to account for possibly heavy city traffic along your route to the venue.

From the North: Take Route 93 South to Exit 15 (JFK/Columbia Road). Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Columbia Road. Go into the rotary and take the first right (Morrissey Boulevard). Drive ahead on Morrissey Blvd for 2 miles, then take a right at the main intersection onto Freeport Street. IBEW Local 103 is approximately 1/4 mile ahead on your right.
From the South: Take Route 3 North to the Expressway (Route 93 North). Take Route 93 North to Exit 13 (Freeport Street). Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Victory Road, then take the first right onto Freeport Street. IBEW Local 103 is approximately 1/2 mile ahead on your right.
From the West: Take the Mass Pike (Route 90) East to its end. Follow signs for Route 93 (Expressway) South. Take Route 93 South and follow directions From the North, above.

This event is FREE and open to everyone, so invite any and all fans of darts that you know to come down for a fun filled night with one of the greatest legends of our favorite pastime. This is a rare occurrence is these parts, so we encourage everyone to take advantage and spend a lovely evening with "Old Stoneface".

Online darts forum, Dartplayer/SEWA, is conducting a free prediction contest for the PDC World Darts Championships beginning this week. See the details below on how to enter. Winner of this contest will receive a free set of Adrian "Jackpot" Lewis's signature darts. You will need to sign up/register on the website forums to enter, but that is both free and easy to do - click here.

HURRY ! Deadline for entries is TOMORROW - 12/15/12 at 12noon ET.

1. One entry per registered dartplayer.net forum member.
2. You get points for each winning player you pick, points awarded for wins
increase as rounds progress.

tie breaker, if needed, will be the most correct preliminary match results
predictions.
5. All entries are due 9am (PST) 12noon (EST) Thursday December 15th late
entries will be discarded.
6. Please enter using the excel file or Google Doc file(be sure not to
delete your copy once you send your entry).

Men's and Women's Cricket singles competitions (3 Sections Divided by Divisional Skill Level)
Open Doubles and Women's Doubles 501 (Invite your Non-MMDL friends to participate!)
LOD to follow if time allows.
Players who do not finish in a money round can re-enter into the next level competition and keep playing.
Fall 2011 Division Winners shirts will be available for pick up (Area and State Champion shirts will be available at a later time)

[MMDL] The Playoffs! Schedules now available...

The most exciting time of the MMDL season is nearly upon us. All of your team's hard work compiling points is about to pay off. Good luck to all teams in their quest for the coveted MMDL State Championship, and please read the important reminders below. Most importantly, please check with your home sponsor about any holiday season parties that may conflict with playoff matches, particularly any Thursdays that you are scheduled to play so that you can make alternative arrangements.

* PLAYOFF SCHEDULES * - Click below to download your area's playoff schedule. Please note that schedules are subject to change and are updated frequently during the post season. Always check the date code printed on the schedule to ensure you have the most recent version.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR PLAYOFF TEAMS:

PLAYOFF ELIGIBILITY: Please remember that all players must have played in a minimum of 3 regular season matches in order to qualify for the playoffs. Players who have been deemed ineligible by the league will have their names appear in italics on the MMDL Stats Website. If you have any questions about this policy, please contact your Area Director or the League Commissioner.
Please remember to remind your sponsor about the possibility for Thursday night playoff matches and check their schedule for conflicts with holiday parties or other events.
Winning captains - DON'T FORGET - report playoff match results immediately following your win, call or email your area director as instructed on the playoff schedule sheet.
Driving Directions to Opponent's Sponsor are available from the MMDL Stats Website. Note: May not contain every sponsor, if you don't find yours, try mapquest.com or Google Maps.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS regarding the playoffs, please contact your Area Director. ADs are extremely busy during the playoffs and have many other captains to consider, so please be patient and make sure you have all of your information and questions at hand when contacting them. AD contact info is listed on your area playoff schedule or click here.
Playoff Results will be reported after each round is completed on the MMDL website - the downloadable schedule will be updated with advancing teams. Make sure you check the schedule date code to ensure you have the most up to date version.
TIP: For a match report, since these are not mailed into the league, you may use an extra blank regular season match report (separate the three carbons so you have three copies to use), or just a blank piece of paper. To download a blank match report, click here.

The MMDL invites all teams and sponsors to sign up for the Spring 2012 Season. Team rosters and sponsor checks must be turned in at your area's first captain's meeting in early January (see dates and times below), so start planning now!

Includes step by step instructions on how to become a sponsor, how to submit a team, how to find a new team or new players for your current team. Even experienced MMDL members may learn something. Spring Season Announcement - Details, dates, times and locations of the captain's meetings for each area and other important information for captains.
Team Roster Application e-Form - You can print this out and fill in by hand or it can be typed in on your computer with Adobe Acrobat. We encourage you to please do this and bring a printout to your captain's meeting if possible to avoid unreadable handwriting. To fill this out on your computer, click on the fields with your mouse to type in your information, and you can switch to the next field by pressing the "tab" key. Any check boxes can be clicked on with your mouse.
Sponsor Poster - A poster you can print out and hang up near your dartboard to recruit new teams or players.

RIP Sam Galpin - the MMDL greatly regrets to announce the passing of a longtime member and friend of the league, Sam Galpin, who passed away this past Sunday from heart failure in his home. Sam played for many seasons out of the Silhouette Lounge in Allston and volunteered many hours of his time driving the MMDL tournament truck and helping to set up league events. Minute Man Dart League invites all fans of darts to An Evening with 3X World Champion John Lowe. Mark your calendars for Friday, December 16, 2011. MMDL is pleased to announce that one of the most legendary world champion's of our sport, John Lowe, will be visiting Boston on his current tour of North America. John is known as one of the pioneering professionals of darts and recorded the first ever televised perfect game of 501 in 1984. His exhibitions are fun filled events featuring stories from his travels on the pro circuit, chances to win great prizes and one-on-one matches against audience members and local top players. [MMDL] Submitting match reports via email

MMDL is looking for team captains who wish to volunteer for a new pilot program to evaluate the feasibility of submitting scanned copies of weekly match reports via email. This program is being looked at to increase the speed and reliability of reporting match scores.

To qualify for this program, you must be able to meet the following requirements:

You must have an email address which you use and check on a regular basis.

Ability to scan or otherwise convert hard copy match reports into a .pdf document that can be printed and read by the league statistician. You must check the legibility of your scanned documents before transmitting and they must be similar in quality to the hard copy.

Write "Scanned" at the top of your hard copy of the match report before scanning.

Write the Area and Division names in the subject line of the email.

Match reports must be sent via email no later than 11:59pm on the Wednesday following your match. If you fail to submit your match report via email by the deadline, you will be subject to penalty point deduction for late match report.

You will NOT need to mail in the white copy of your match report.

At the end of this season you will be asked to provide an evaluation of this process and a decision will be made on whether to continue and/or expand this service in future seasons.

Attention All Captains -- Important rule clarifications and reminders:

Be civil and respectful of one another during competition. Exercise good sportsmanship at all times. Represent your team, sponsor and the league with pride. Report any improper behavior to your area director so that repeat offenders can be identified.
MATCH START TIME: Start time for ALL DIVISIONS is 7:30pm. Late starts could lead to point deductions. If you are running late, you are advised to give the other captain a courtesy phone call with an estimated time of arrival or for scheduling a makeup match. There are no forfeits - teams that "no-show" will be suspended for 2 seasons. Please read the documentation regarding start time included in your captain's kit or to download a copy - Click Here.
SCOREKEEPER RULES: From the official rules, Article VII, Sections H, J, L & M:

H. The scorekeeper can only tell a player how much is left and/or what has been scored with the darts thrown. The scorekeeper cannot tell the shooter what to throw at.
J. COACHING IS ALLOWED!!!! Exception: SCOREKEEPER / CHALKER!
L. A scorekeeper shall face the scoreboard, remaining still as not to disturb the shooter in any way, until all three darts are thrown.
M. Any player(s) who deem a scorekeeper incompetent or distracting may request another scorekeeper without explanation and/or recourse.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

Please mail your match reports immediately following the match. This will greatly help faster processing of weekly scores.

FILLING OUT MATCH REPORTS - Captains are urged to remember the following:

Mail the TOP WHITE COPY in the envelope provided. Pink and yellow copies are for both captain's records. You are advised to store these sheets until the season is over in case of disputes or to examine for point deductions.
Write legibly (!!!) - if the name of the player, team, points and other information can not be easily read, this increases the chance for errors and delays the publishing of the standings
Use First and Last names - so proper credit can be given to the correct player for wins, losses and notables.
Start and End Times should be recorded in the space provided
Assign one of your players to review the report for accuracy at the end of the match to prevent point deductions.
DO NOT tear, doodle or otherwise deface the report - have respect for the person who must process hundreds of them in a short time window

[MMDL] Watch USA's Jim Widmayer at the Winmau World Master's today at 12noon

Today is a rare opportunity to watch one of America's best dart players compete live on ESPN3's live Internet stream.

New York City's Jim Widmayer, advanced to the top 16 through the very tough group stages at this years' Winmau World Master's in England, one of the world's highest profile International dart tournaments. He will be facing off today vs. Rick Hofstra of the Netherlands.

Are you ready for some Footbaaa....uhh, DARTS! The Fall 2011 season of the Minute Man Dart League begins right after labor day weekend!

As of this posting only North Shore, Central and South Shore area schedules are available. The Boston area schedule will be posted soon. Also, please note that these schedules are subject to minor changes for the first couple weeks after original posting, check the date code on the website to make sure you have the most recent version.

Here are some helpful reminders for team captains to ensure you start the season off right:

League Rules - to avoid disputes during matches, make sure that all the players on your team are knowledgeable of the current ruleset.
Schedules - Make copies of the schedule provided in your captain's kit and distribute to each team member.
Stat Site - Weekly standings and player statistics are available on the MMDL stat site. See the instructions on the main page of the stat site for setting up an account and accessing your stats. Please note that the current season is not yet loaded into the site, but should be available prior to, or just after, the new season begins.
Captain's Kit - Make sure you review and are familiar with all the contents of the captain's kit you should have picked up at your recent captain's meeting. Additional copies of documents such as blank match reports, match report instructions, order of play and scorekeeping, match start time guidelines and scorekeeper's ten commandments can be downloaded from the league website - click here.
